תשובה (Teshuvah)

when the waves of despair and regret            Collapse upon me,                                                       Or when the thorns of shame and abandonment Bloom and grow from my skin,                              There is Teshuvah.       

When hands feel like snakes that writhe along my body.                                                                            And my lips can’t form the word “no”,                    There is Teshuvah. 

When we have forgotten what is sacred

Within ourselves,  

                       There is Teshuvah. 

Gd has gifted us with the remedy of forgiveness,

And it’s time we gifted ourselves with it. 

Cleansing our souls with the rain of renewal,

The air smells cleaner, crisper, 

And like the sun that rises diligently without fail,

We will too.
